The Guru, Celebrity Photographer Shawn Brooks was in the building getting great shots of our guests on the red carpet and with our playful, customized cardboard Instagram frame that brought about the most creative selfies from celebrities such as McKinley Freeman of VH1’s new series Hit The Floor and the flyest teen pop girl group from the Disney Channel, Urban Extreme and Mek Mill’s new recording artist Paloma Ford to name a few. Even our gracious hostesses got in on the Instagram Giant Selfie antics which kept the dya party filled with laughs and very happy guests! It may have been the Cake Batter or Strawberry Short Cake flavored Birthday Cake Wine those of legal drinking age were indulging in- so it’s safe to say we can ‘blame it on the alcohol’- the day party THE PLACE TO BE! Our guests owned the red carpet with their iVogue Shop bags full of swag- including beauty products from Architectural Skin Care, BlownAway Clothing, Sweet Sugarz Body Products, Goddess Couture, My Exclusive Shoe and Team Kiss T-shirts.
Inside the Beauty Lounge guests were privy to beautifying services from Pretty Girl Lashez where Christina provide very sexy and alluring lash extensions and Fly.Sexy.Diva’s styling team lead by Samara Shannon “glammed” the ladies with chic hair and makeup sessions and beauties could sample products from . Admist the sounds of DJ La La Land a bevy of publicists, event planners and bloggers among other entertainment notables indulged in some of the most extravant treats at the 2nd Annual Women in PR Beauty Lounge. Celebrity cupcakeologist StudioChefs Cupcakes (@studiochefs) gave all a sweet-tooth with their watermelon flavored tresures and the Black Momma Vodka team served up plenty of candy but the specialty cocktails from the mixologist were the best treat for most! Notwithstanding the culinary decadence served up by Posh Palete turned the most simple foodie into an aspiring epicurean. Rounds and rounds of spinach and strawberry feta salad with strawberry vinaigrette, shrimp creole veggie shooters and caribbean seafood salad were vanshing as quickly as they were being placed on the table.
Throughout the day the Make Up Mix Studio in Burbank where the event was held saw upwards to 200 guest grace its newly opened doors mixing, mingling and enjoying the many services provided by some of the swankiest vendors in Los Angeles. The owners, Brandy and Karen were on hand to provide full makeup applications to event-goers with skincare tips thrown in for good measure. If the natual moisturizing balm of eco- couture Naturally Bare didn’t relax and rejuvenate participants, the soothing hands of Mr. Royal Treatment- masseuse Antone Murray definitely did. His royal treamtment massages consisted of a customized massage geared at the places you needed pampered most. Outside the venue, a newcomer to the fashion world via four-wheels and a sexy exhaust swathed in pink, Le Fashion Truck provided an open-air shopping experience to attendees as only a mobile boutique can do. Some of the hottest accessories, clothing and handbags by some of the hottest desingers were on display and for sale-some patrons bought their #ootd (outfit of the day for you non-instagrammers) for the next entertainment event on the calendar. Just a few feet away from the FIRST store on wheels the red carpet was all a buzz with photographers snapping up photos of celebs, publicists and bloggers who made the carpet come alive with all the exhuberant personalities that mixed to make the day an overwhelming success.
This annual event is the brainchild of Ms. Anje Collins of The Luxe PR Group in Miami and co-founder of the Women In PR organization. This is the second year she has brought the event to Los Angeles- partnering with sister agencies in the public relations realm – our very own Dana Fikes of The D Network and publicist with a flair Ms. Erica Lane of The Kartel Company. Touted as the event that spotlights those who bring the spotlight to others, the Women In PR Relax and Rejuvenate soiree gets better each year and the publicists, bloggers and event planners who have become regulars in the two years of it’s exixtence can attest to that. Will you be in attendance next year? Bring your business cards- men have made it their “event to attend” as well- and it never hurts to network and flirt- all at the same damn time!

BET Weekend saw many events that hit the Hollywood and Los Angeles prime venues. One such event was the Pure Dope Magazine Luxury Lounge at Nakeah Cosmetics in Hollywood that brought awareness to the debilitating affects of Lupus and celebrated the achievements on the honorees hosted my the lovely Malaysia Pargo of Basket ball Wives Los Angeles. It was a star-studded soiree with many celebrities and well-known personalities in attendance showing their support by advocating for a cure for Lupus. The chic hip-hop clothing boutique iVogue created a one-of-a-kind Lupus tee with photos adorning the shirt with Michael Jackson, Nick Cannon, Toni Braxton, Seal and J Dilla who are currrently or had been diagnosed with the illness before their untimely passing. The humanitarianism behind bringing much needed awareness was not a somber occasion- DJ MikeSmoove was in the building on the wheels of steel keeping the air filled with hits from nominees such as Big Sean, Beyonce, Nicki Minaj, Jay-Z and Kanye West to name a few.
The luxury lounge was spread over two days making the lavish event one big extended affair. Rosa Acosta, Marcus Paulk of Red Tails fame and Angell Cromwell (Young and the Restless) and Ben Watson Jr. of The L.A. Complex stopped by to show much love and received hot products from stylish brands like Mixology Watches and i.am.her apparel in their gift bags. The east was in the building as well via DJ Doughboy for New Jersey who blessed the talent with his BLOG Mixtape, wristbands and hot I Love the dough tanks tops. Need I say a great time was had by all in a lavish manner with Chambord liquor in abundance and incredilbe cupcakes made with the fines liquer. Make sure you check out the images of the event brought to you by veteran photo journalist Vinni Ratcliff and celebrity photographer Shawn Brooks. The D Network would like to thank all of the sponsors and vendors who were onboard for this worthy cause-your philanthropic efforts will change lives as we look for a cure and the cause of lupus. It is important that we all take a stand with a worthwhile event and cause that can help those who are affected in so many ways.
